It's never too early to start with being an artist!
Am I an artist? OK - I'm using my skills and my imagination to create an object or an experience and I share it with others. Also - per definition I'm an artist. I'm still young and my skills might need some improvement but I can assure you my imagination is already first class!
I like photography! Right now I'm using my inexpensive, hand-down digital camera to capture nature's amazing wonders. One of my pictures even received an award from the Escambia PTA.
I'm also a student of Mrs. Kris's art classes. At first, I was not really sure if I would have the skills and patience to paint, but after a couple afternoons I discovered the fun and joy of expressing myself by using paint, brushes and canvas. And one of my paintings made it's way to the 'Youth Art Focus' exhibition at the Pensacola Museum of Art.
I also like to 'paint' a smile on other peoples face, not with a brush, not with a permanent marker - just with being a happy boy. I can assure you it's contagious!
